My September-2011 [Blog]

Earlier this month on Sunday the 4th, I woke up early and headed over to San Francisco. The SF Giants were the first team of the month to have their “Star Wars Day”. In September there were a bunch of different teams having a “Star Wars Day” and promoting “Stand Up to Cancer”. All the other teams giveaway’s was a t-shirt. Giants fans got this awesome Brian Wilson in Carbonite

Me and Joanna got there early to get our giveaway and check out the Star Wars pre-game stuff. Fans were dressed up as characters and some even did
Star Wars/Giants mashups like Vader, Boba Fett, and Stormtroopers with orange helmets.  After a while we went into the park and went to our seats. We got Club level seats in the Star Wars section because the website said to buy “Special tickets” to watch Empire Strikes Back after the game, but actually anyone could watch it.

These were good seats, I even sat next to a wookie! On the screen they had special stuff like a trailer for Star wars with Lou Seal in it and holograms of the players when they’re up to bat. The Umpires were escorted by Stormtroopers. Even though they lost the game it was still fun, and we got to watch Empire Strikes Back on the big screen which was cool and everyone reacted to the dramatic parts.

I’ve  been entering tons of different sweepstakes on Facebook recently. My sister Jasmine won a nice camera and something else from these things. So I figure I’d be worth a shot to enter some too. About 100+ entries later I got an email saying I won something. Most of the sweepstakes I entered was for an iPad or a kindle or something. When I actually read the email, It was for a gift card of over $2,500! Now that’s a damn good prize to win. At the time I’m writing this, I’m still waiting for it to be mailed to me. I’m going to use it for my phone bill for the next 2 years so if I don’t have a job, I could still have a phone. Maybe use a little of it for other things and Christmas presents.

I guess September was a Star Wars Month. Started off with Star Wars Day at the Giants game, the season 4 Premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered the same day  I bought  Star Wars: The Complete Blu Ray. I got the 9 disc set for $80 at Best Buy with a free t-shirt and my mom bought it at Target and gave me the lithographs she got from there.

I just want to say to the people who complain about the new changes in the movies:
Get over it!

Sure I agree  in Return of the Jedi, when Darth Vader Says “Noo!” was terrible, but people are boycotting this set because of the changes. They’re just depriving themselves of over 40 hours of bonus material with cool deleted scenes which was the main reason why I bought the set. Video is restored and Episode 2 and 3 look awesome in HD, and the audio is top-notch quality. I think it’s a must buy.

I had a couple more interviews this month. Another winery which I didn’t get, and a interview for this Marketing thing. The marketing interview was for this place called “L.T.D. Marketing Group“. I got called in for a second interview, but when I talked to someone; they told me I’m going with them to Antioch to observe them and it’ll be like an interview too. I went with the two managers. One drove his car and the other one told me to drive my car with him in it. Personally, I don’t think that was fair. I’m kinda broke and I don’t want to be buying gas to go to Antioch. On the drive there, we were talking and then talking about video games. Once we got to Antioch, we pulled in a Chevron and they set up a folding table and the product they were selling/pushing on people. After about an hour they told me I was hired and to come in on Monday. I was excited to finally have a job, but turns out not really.

On that Monday, I go in and after filing some paperwork and go into a meeting, everyone gets their assignments on where to go. I got paired up with the manager and I had to drive to Mill Valley which is near San Rafael.  Basically what I did was once someone started pumping gas in their car, I approach them from the front of the car and say:

‘Hello there, How are you today? I’m here doing a HUGE promotion for FW1 Racing’s brand new WATERLESS wash and wax. Today we are doing FREE demonstrations would you like to see how it works”.

They usually say no but if they said yes, I spray it on the car, windows, and the rims. They’re 2 for $25 and I only sold one order while the manager sold  6 orders. We didn’t take breaks because he said whenever there were no cars, that’s our break. Also found out that day it was commission based  pay so if I didn’t sell anything I don’t get paid, plus I’d be driving far everyday. So the next day was the same thing. After we got back to the office I basically told the manager I needed a steadier paycheck and I quit. Plus I felt really uncomfortable pushing a product on people and being rude and pushy to them because that’s not who I am.

After that whole thing I got a call from my old job at the winery and they asked if I could come right away. So I did and I was there for about 5 hours and I was done. The next week they called me again and asked if I could come in right away; again. Got there at 7 and left at 12:30am. While I was there they asked me if I could come again the next day. So I got there at 2 and I didn’t get off till 12:30. Basically I was On-Call and they might call me again out of the blue. If they call I have to say yes and then scramble to find some food for lunch and race over there for some hours.

The last day of the month Joanna and I went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for their Employee Fright Fest Preview Night since she works there. It was just a preview of the haunted houses and the shows they were doing, with no rides. they gave everyone free Chili Cheese Fries and they made me Cheese Fries. From what we saw, the haunted houses weren’t that scary. I expected a lot more.only two things scared me: It was a maze and we were rounding a corner and it was really dark. Someone made a loud banging noise and ran up behind me. The other one was in this house, there was a girl in white looking at the mirror, after a while she turned and yelled and ran up to us and her reflection crawled out of the mirror too. That was a the best scare I got there. Although, near the end of one of the haunted things there was a door, and immediately  as you pass the doorway, some scary looking woman is crouched on the other side and by the time you see her it’s too late. That gave me goosebumps. Plus we saw Joanna’s friend as a ghost. She tried to scare us but got embarrassed and she just told us to keep going. The shows they had were not good at all. Most of the singing was terrible and the song choices were mediocre and cliché.

That’s all the ranting I’ll be doing, so thanks for reading.

Summer 2010 (abridged version)

Ok this is my second time writing this and I had a lot written down. Then I closed the window without saving it so here is the short version

I realized I haven’t done a post since May and since it’s almost the end of summer, I figured it’s about time.

Me and Joanna went to a lot of places the past couple of months. In the middle of May we went to the Academy of Sciences. It was cool, especially the planetarium show. We saw a bunch of cool exhibits but I like all the fish exhibits. It was just cool how they were all presented and the atmosphere of the whole fish area was.

Went to a Giants game where they went into extra innings and they won. That was sweet. I went with my sisters and Joanna.

The day after that was the start of my hell week at work. A coworker that works on my production line (There is about 4 people per line) was going to be gone for 3 weeks and we were told we had to work EVERYDAY for 3 weeks which sucked major balls. I was so tired and sore I called in sick one day.

Adidas launched their new Star Wars line (Just announced their Fall/Winter Line) and they had this awesome video.

During this years E3 they showed some cool videos.  Here are some.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Hope Trailer

Kevin Butler appearance at E3 2010

Some game I’ve been playing are:

Toy Story 3 for PS3-Really good game. Story mode is ok and the voice acting is “meh” but where the game really shine is the “Toy Box” mode. Kinda like a family friendly version of Grand Theft Auto.

Red Dead Redemption PS3 – One of the best games I”ve played this year. The story is good (Gets kinda slow in Mexico) and the voice acting is awesome. I have GameFly (Netflix for games) and I’ve had this game for about a month and still play it.

On June 24th, my cousin Joston got married. Here is a video. Sorry the audio is off, i’m just to lazy to fix it

It was so hot in June, around the end of the month Joanna and myself went to Waterworld for a little bit. Couldn’t stay long because of Joanna’s friends wedding reception.

I love the Nickelodeon show “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and I was excited for the movie. I watched it and I think it’s not as bad as everyone says it is. I mean, it wasn’t awesome or anything. The acting was bad and the pacing was really rushed, but I still enjoyed it and I hope the next movie is a lot better minus M. Night Shamaylan.

DISNEYLAND! Yes I went to Disneyland again. This time when we went, it was the 55th Anniversary on that Saturday July17. Everything was awesome and the special 55th Anniversary dedication was cool. Also one of the main reasons I wanted to come was for Star Tours. I wanted to ride it one last time before it shut down (A week later) until they reopen it late next year. Sad to see it go. We finally were able to see World Of Color. It’s a Nighttime water show that makes the Fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas look like a flushing toilet .

We saved up a lot of money so we could do a lot of stuff we normaly wouldn’t do like:

Eat at Benihana’s (which was awesome),

Get some cool souvenirs,

And eat at Ariels Grotto (Super expensive and not awesome) and Minnie’s Character Breafast (which was awesome)

At the end of July, we went to the CA State Fair. We had a good time. We played some games and stuff and we spent a good hour or more at a special Animation exhibit where they had a bunch of Disney animation, Pixar, Dreamworks, and Looney tunes stuff.  later we met up with our friends Nikki, Christine, Robin and Jon. That was when I bought Chocolate flavored Bacon which I liked. We went though this cool Animatronic Dinosaur thing that was cool. and later I rode this one ride with Nikki because everyone else didn’t want to ride this one.

I went bowling the other night and took this picture around 2 am

Which brings us to the present (as I am writing this). Now i’m just going to talk about the big ass Star Wars Convention held every couple years. So if your not interested you can stop reading now.

Star Wars Celebration V just ended in Orlando Florida. So much news coming out of there like Lucas finally announcing the Blu Ray Release of the entire saga later next year. I would show you the deleted scene they showed from Return of the Jedi, but Lucasfilm took it down. It’s starts with Darth Vader calling to Luke through the Force and then we see Luke finish building his new green Lightsaber and putting it into R2D2’s head before the droids go to Jabba’s palace. At Disneyworld last saturday was the Last Tour to Endor. A special Celebration V party dedicated to the last time people can ride Star Tours at Disney World They had cool stuff like Special Star Wars fireworks, and at the “Indiana Stunt Show Spectacular” they did a special show called “Raiders of the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom” If you want to see the videos of these and more, check out    http://www.youtube.com/user/AttractionsMagazine

Star Wars In Concert – Sacramento

AWESOME! The concert was really awesome. I went with my friend Osman and his cousin Mai. Osman and I were wearing Star Wars shirts of course. He bought his Yoda backpack and I was going to bring one of my six Lightsabers but decided not too. I just wasn’t sure if they’ll let it in. Anyways, after and hour of traffic we arrive at the Arco Arena. We get there around 40 minutes to showtime. We located the exhibits and it was awesome! I couldn’t get any pictures of my own so here are some pictures that other people took.

If your one of the few people who read this and want to see more go to the Star Wars Blog’s Flicr page here :

Stage rehearsal

The show was fantastic and the narration by C3-P0 himself Anthony Daniels was breath taking. You can tell he was really into it and the fans loved it. The show was divided into two halves.

The First Halve was music from the Prequel Trilogy (Episodes 1-3). Started off; of course, with the Lucasfilm logo music followed by the main theme. I thought a nice touch was when you first see Anthony Daniels in a black suit jacket with a gold vest. They played songs like “Duel of the Fates”, “Anakin and Padme”, and “Anakin vs. Obi Wan”. For this song especially was pretty cool. What I did not expect was the fire cannons, which added a lot of atmosphere. After an amazing first halve. They let everyone ave a 20 minute intermission. Next they played music from the Original Trilogy (Episodes 4-6). They played some songs like: ” Leia’s Theme”, “The Moisture Farm”, “Cantina Band”, “Imperial March”, and of course they ended with “The Throne Room and End Credits”. It was spectacular. After a long round of applause, they honored us with an encore of the “Imperial March”. This was probably one of my all time favorite concerts I’ve been too. I wanted to buy a shirt but they were $35, so I bought a cool 3D Lenticular Poster instead. Here is a picture of it:

The only thing that sorta bothered me, was the lady sitting next to me. When we sat down, I was expecting a skinny teen or something. The last thing I was expecting was a female Jabba the Hutt. I was kinda dissapointed that I had to sit next to someone like this, but I knew that this is supposed to be a good experience. I gave her as much room as I can and I just wanted the both of us to enjoy the show and at lest be comfortable. I just hope she didn’t think of this as being rude to her. After the concert was over, we wanted to try and take pictures of the exhibits but it was closed off so that was kinda lame. On the way out we saw a lot of nerds with lightsabers fighting in the parking lot so that was kinda cool

Going to some Concerts…..

Ok, first off  I just want to say that I am super excited to be going to “Star Wars: In Concert” on October 9, 2009! So freaking happy.

I’ve known about since it debuted in London earlier this year via “The Force Cast” (the best Star Wars Podcast).  The cool thing about this concert as that there is a whole lot more than just the music. Before the concert begins, there will be a plethora of Lucasfilm and Star Wars props and memorabilia. Not to mention that this wonderful gala will be hosted and narrted by C3P0 himself, Anthony Daniels! (Click the picture to learn more)

I’m going with Osman and his cousin Mai. She’s the one who bought me a ticket because I was saying how much I wanted to go and didn’t have the money. But all is well and i’m super excited! But there is something before that I am really hoping to see..

If you know there are five levels of Fatness, then you know who i’m talking about. Gabriel Iglesias is one of the most funniest comedians I have ever seen. (Click the picture to Gabriel’s website)

He will be performing at the San Jose Improv this month on the 24th, 25, and 27th. I posted a video of him on a previous post but here is one of his classics

There is one more concert that me and Joanna would like to go to. It’s in San Francisco at the Davies Symphony Hall on October 16th. The event of the night will be called “The San Francisco Symphony Celebrates the Opening of The Walt Disney Family Museum”. So far it’s Joanna and I and maybe my friends Christine and Robin. In honor of the opening of the Walt Disney Family Museum, we can relieve the magic of our childhood favorites.

I only wish the Star Wars concert will be like this…
