June 2011 [Blog Post]

On June 3rd I had a chance to go visit the offices of IGN.com in San Francisco. I took BART to SF and walked around for a while. I went to have lunch at a place called “The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen” and it was delicious! I had Sharp Chedder and Havarti cheeses with some ham. For a drink I saw they had “Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer” which I haven’t seen in forever so I had to get it.

I still had a lot of time so I went to AT&T Park for a tour for $15 and it was really cool. We were taken to the indoor batting cages for the visitors and the visitors dugout. Then we were on the field for a little bit, but we couldn’t go on the grass since there was a night game that day. We didn’t go to the Club level since there was an event going on but we went to the Suit level and it was cool.

Afterwards I walked a block to IGN. Every Friday they give tours to their fans and you have to be picked to go, luckily I know someone and they hooked me up. We saw a lot of conference rooms and each one is based off a game. Like there is a Zelda room, Grand Theft Auto room, a Halo room and about 8 other rooms. Also saw their nice demo room where they try out games for reviewing. They gave us some free stuff and we ate Paxti’s Pizza which was very good Chicago style pizza.

The next day I went to the Giants game for Joanna’s sisters birthday. Game was good but they lost, at least I got a Cody Ross bobble head. Afterwards we went to have dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. I don’t remember what I got but afterwards we took an hour trying to figure out what everyone owed.

The next week my family took a last minute trip to Disneyland. I was excited to ride the newly opened and redone Star Tours. The lines for Star Tours were RIDICULOUS! I rode the ride about 6 or 7 times and one time we waited almost 3 hours. It was worth it. The 3D is amazing on this ride and all the different destinations were cool. Me and Sammy rode Splash Mountain and I was in the front so I got soaked. We also got a good spot for the fireworks at the beginning of Main Street where the flagpole is, but near the front (I’ll post a picture of our spot).

Buzz Lightyear Score – 788,100   Really good score

Also learned how to draw Donald (Favorite Disney character)

June 12th me and Joanna went to my friend Patrick’s house for his birthday and graduation to become a Journeyman Electrician. Spent a long time there hanging out talking and having a good time.

On the 16th was Sam’s Graduation (or Promotion, whatever…). There was a lot of people there. I forgot where we went to eat afterwards.

I also watched a couple of movies. Me and Joanna went to the Drive-in in Concord for the first time and it was awesome. For $7 each, we saw Super 8 and Kung Fu Panda 2.

Super 8 – I liked this movie a lot and you could say it’s this generations version of E.T. The acting of the kids were very good, especially the fat kid.

Kung Fu Panda 2 –  This is better than the first movie, the voice acting all around was good and Gary Oldman as the voice of the bad guy was really good.

Green Lantern– I liked it, but it might be hard for people to enjoy if they don’t know anything about it. They changed some kinda important stuff from the comics but i still liked it and hope they make another one with Sinestro as the bad guy

Cars 2 – Basically a spy movie with the “Cars” characters and it was awesome!

Lastly, ever since I got back from Disneyland I’ve been kinda sick. I didn’t know what it was at first, but after 2 weeks had a appointment with a doctor and said I had a sinus infection. Took some antibiotics and now it’s gone.

Disneyland 3/26/11 – 3/30/11

My mom had decided to have her retirement party at Disneyland (which is awesome) inside the exclusive member only “Club 33”.  It was going to be awesome since a lot of my family wanted to go to, about 30 people. I left on Friday night around midnight. It was my little brother and sister and we picked up Joanna from her work at midnight and then we drove strait to Anaheim from there. After a long ride and a couple of failed attempts to get food on the way there, we arrived at Disneyland around 7am. Joanna’s Disneyland ticket was bought by my older sister because she gets military discount, so we had to wait for her to show up and show her ID so Joanna can use her ticket. After we got in, We rode a bunch of rides and met up with some family there and it was cool. Got a really good score on Toy Story Midway Mania in CA Adventure, and at 5pm we waited in line at Disneyland for the exclusive sneak peek for  “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” for about 2 hours. We were right near the front of the line and about 30 minutes before it began this lady pirate came out with a Animatronic pirate bird that interacted  with guests. then we were let in later and sat on the floor, we were right in front and the pre-show was cool and the clip was cool too and it was in 3D.

The next day we met up with family and did a bunch of stuff and I can’t remember all the things we did that day, but that night, Joanna, Sam, and myself watched World of Color. Alright, the next day was Monday the big day. There were so many of us that went to Club 33 and it was awesome. When I walked in I noticed all the really nice art and everything. After walking around a bit I sat down and ordered my Vodka Tonic. Club 33 is the only place in Disneyland where alcohol is served so I had to get something. the food I ordered was the ” Certified Organic Free Range Chicken, Truffled Mac & Cheese” It was marinated basil, shallots and a Cipollini Jus. I have to say this was the best chicken I’ve ever had. The chicken was moist and juicy with EVERY bite and the Mac and Cheese  was crazy good. I would pay $80 for this, because that’s how much it is. After everyone was done eating, we all got some exclusive merchandise. I got an awesome Club 33 Mickey Ears. Then like 30 minutes later we all left and did stuff, I cant remember. After we got back to the hotel, we did stuff and then Joanna, mikey and my dad left to go home.

The next day was my moms birthday and we did a lot of stuff with everyone. I cant remember a lot of what I did while I was at Disneyland. But I do remember that night. Joanna and myself went to go eat at Cafe Orleans. I got a awesome Monte Cristo and the appetizer we got was Pomme Frites, It’s french fries with Parmesan and olive oil and they were a little more crunchy that usual fries and everything was delicious.  Oh yeah, my mom left Disneyland early and she spent the day going to places with my aunt and uncle getting stuff at “Porto’s” and “Sprinkles Cupcakes”. Later We got back to the hotel and ate some stuff. The next couple days are a blur I haven’t spent this much time at Disneyland in years. I even got a big blister on my foot that made me limp for more than half the trip.  We got back home on Thursday night. And that’s it here are some more pictures and some video I took.

Summer 2010 (abridged version)

Ok this is my second time writing this and I had a lot written down. Then I closed the window without saving it so here is the short version

I realized I haven’t done a post since May and since it’s almost the end of summer, I figured it’s about time.

Me and Joanna went to a lot of places the past couple of months. In the middle of May we went to the Academy of Sciences. It was cool, especially the planetarium show. We saw a bunch of cool exhibits but I like all the fish exhibits. It was just cool how they were all presented and the atmosphere of the whole fish area was.

Went to a Giants game where they went into extra innings and they won. That was sweet. I went with my sisters and Joanna.

The day after that was the start of my hell week at work. A coworker that works on my production line (There is about 4 people per line) was going to be gone for 3 weeks and we were told we had to work EVERYDAY for 3 weeks which sucked major balls. I was so tired and sore I called in sick one day.

Adidas launched their new Star Wars line (Just announced their Fall/Winter Line) and they had this awesome video.

During this years E3 they showed some cool videos.  Here are some.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Hope Trailer

Kevin Butler appearance at E3 2010

Some game I’ve been playing are:

Toy Story 3 for PS3-Really good game. Story mode is ok and the voice acting is “meh” but where the game really shine is the “Toy Box” mode. Kinda like a family friendly version of Grand Theft Auto.

Red Dead Redemption PS3 – One of the best games I”ve played this year. The story is good (Gets kinda slow in Mexico) and the voice acting is awesome. I have GameFly (Netflix for games) and I’ve had this game for about a month and still play it.

On June 24th, my cousin Joston got married. Here is a video. Sorry the audio is off, i’m just to lazy to fix it

It was so hot in June, around the end of the month Joanna and myself went to Waterworld for a little bit. Couldn’t stay long because of Joanna’s friends wedding reception.

I love the Nickelodeon show “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and I was excited for the movie. I watched it and I think it’s not as bad as everyone says it is. I mean, it wasn’t awesome or anything. The acting was bad and the pacing was really rushed, but I still enjoyed it and I hope the next movie is a lot better minus M. Night Shamaylan.

DISNEYLAND! Yes I went to Disneyland again. This time when we went, it was the 55th Anniversary on that Saturday July17. Everything was awesome and the special 55th Anniversary dedication was cool. Also one of the main reasons I wanted to come was for Star Tours. I wanted to ride it one last time before it shut down (A week later) until they reopen it late next year. Sad to see it go. We finally were able to see World Of Color. It’s a Nighttime water show that makes the Fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas look like a flushing toilet .

We saved up a lot of money so we could do a lot of stuff we normaly wouldn’t do like:

Eat at Benihana’s (which was awesome),

Get some cool souvenirs,

And eat at Ariels Grotto (Super expensive and not awesome) and Minnie’s Character Breafast (which was awesome)

At the end of July, we went to the CA State Fair. We had a good time. We played some games and stuff and we spent a good hour or more at a special Animation exhibit where they had a bunch of Disney animation, Pixar, Dreamworks, and Looney tunes stuff.  later we met up with our friends Nikki, Christine, Robin and Jon. That was when I bought Chocolate flavored Bacon which I liked. We went though this cool Animatronic Dinosaur thing that was cool. and later I rode this one ride with Nikki because everyone else didn’t want to ride this one.

I went bowling the other night and took this picture around 2 am

Which brings us to the present (as I am writing this). Now i’m just going to talk about the big ass Star Wars Convention held every couple years. So if your not interested you can stop reading now.

Star Wars Celebration V just ended in Orlando Florida. So much news coming out of there like Lucas finally announcing the Blu Ray Release of the entire saga later next year. I would show you the deleted scene they showed from Return of the Jedi, but Lucasfilm took it down. It’s starts with Darth Vader calling to Luke through the Force and then we see Luke finish building his new green Lightsaber and putting it into R2D2’s head before the droids go to Jabba’s palace. At Disneyworld last saturday was the Last Tour to Endor. A special Celebration V party dedicated to the last time people can ride Star Tours at Disney World They had cool stuff like Special Star Wars fireworks, and at the “Indiana Stunt Show Spectacular” they did a special show called “Raiders of the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom” If you want to see the videos of these and more, check out    http://www.youtube.com/user/AttractionsMagazine

Disney Symphony

Last month I went to San Francisco with Joanna to see the S.F. Symphony play some Disney songs. This concert was to celebrate the opening of the Walt Disney Museum (Which I haven’t been to yet 😦  damn).  We took BART there and it was cool. Walked around before the symphony started and took some pictures.

We met up with Jacqueline and Jake and then we took our seats with one minute to spare.

The orchestra was great. this is the set list they played:

– Overture to William Tell – Rossini
– Waltz from The Sleeping Beauty, Opus 66 – Tchaikovsky
– A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella – Hoffman/Livingston
– Some Day My Prince Will Come from Snow White – Churchill/Morey arr. Bishop
– Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Opus 68 Pastoral – Beethoven (From Fantasia)

Intermission

A Night on Bald Mountain – Mussorgsky
March of the Dwarfs from Lyric Suite – Grieg
Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag) from Mary Poppins – Sherman
When You Wish Upon A Star from Pinocchio –  Harline/Washington
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Dukas

They had this Singer who was a Soprano.  She is a good singer, but not when it comes to Disney songs. I really had a problem with it. During Intermission, we all went to the bathroom and took some pictures on the balcony outside. After the concert was over we all went to McCovey’s in Walnut Creek to mee up with Jasmine and Brian. The Kitchen was closed so Jasmine and Brian went home while we went to Denny’s. Then went home after that

Disney’s The Princess and the Frog

I’m sure many of us remember the days when Disney Studios released a new movie. When it was either “Alice in Wonderland”, “Aladdin”, or “Hercules”. When PIXAR came onto the scene, it was a game-changer. Suddenly CG (computer graphic) films was going to be the future. Dreamworks Pictures followed this trend and eventually the Disney Animation Studios did this too. After pictures with less than worthy grosses like “Home on the Range” and “Meet the Robinsons” Disney has gone back to its roots with hand-drawn animation with their new film “The Princess and the Frog”. Check out the trailer below.

Also check out this short featurette about the movie’s villain.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The only bad thing that I can think of is if “‘The Princess and the Frog” will treat black people the same way that “Pocahontas” treated Native Americans.
